Demand-driven design of bicycle infrastructure networks for improved urban bikeability

چکیده
Cycling is crucial for sustainable urban transportation. Promoting cycling critically relies on sufficiently developed infrastructure; however, designing efficient bike path networks constitutes a complex problem that requires balancing multiple constraints. Here we propose framework generating networks, explicitly taking into account cyclists’ demand distribution and route choices based safety preferences. By reversing the network formation, iteratively remove paths from an initially complete continually update to create sequence of adapted demand. We illustrate applicability this demand-driven approach two cities. A comparison resulting with those created homogenized enables us quantify importance planning. The proposed may thus enable quantitative evaluation structure current planned support design infrastructures. Designing In study, inverse percolation generate families cyclist

Demand-oriented timetable design for urban rail transit under stochastic demand
In the context of public transportation system, improving the service quality and robustness through minimizing the average passengers waiting time is a real challenge. This study provides robust stochastic programming models for train timetabling problem in urban rail transit systems. The objective is minimization of the weighted summation of the expected cost of passenger waiting time, its va...
متن کاملData-Driven Forecasts of Regional Demand for Infrastructure Services
The socio-economic development and liveability of a region are affected to a great extent by the region's infrastructure services. Data-driven forecasting the demands for infrastructure utilities (for example, electricity, water, and waste) of a region becomes a challenging issue in the situation of highly integrative infrastructure networks and restricted data sharing, which involves handling ...

What does the addition of Web browser technology bring to a PDM system? It expands access to the system, allowing people to connect regardless of their computer, operating system, or location. "Our implementations of PDM span multiple sites, multiple applications, multiple uses, all the way from the salesperson through manufacturing," says Scott Vanselous, PDM product manager at EDS/Unigraphics...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Design for Resilience in Infrastructure Distribution Networks
The recognition that resilience is a critical aspect of infrastructure resilience has caused the national and homeland security communities to ask “How does one ensure infrastructure resilience?” Previous analysis methods have primarily focused on system recovery activities following the occurrence of a disruptive event. In this report, we expand on those methods by including pre-disruption inv...
